RhythmBud is a MIDI effect application designed to transform incoming MIDI messages into custom rhythmic patterns. It supports AUv3 Audio Unit plugin, Audiobus, Inter-App Audio (IAA), Ableton Link, and Core MIDI (Standalone). This app acts as a bridge between a MIDI sender (external hardware or any MIDI controller/sequencer app) and a MIDI receiver (any audio app or external hardware), allowing you to create and manipulate rhythm patterns in real-time.

With its user-friendly timeline editor, you can easily create complex rhythm patterns by adding different effects such as strumming effects, arpeggios, transposition, velocity manipulation, and ratchets. The app also features a "Snapshots" function, allowing you to save and recall different configurations instantly. You can control your snapshots via MIDI CC messages or Audio Unit Parameters, making it easy to integrate RhythmBud into your project or performance.

One standout feature is the "Record Mode," which enables you to record a pattern by simply tapping the toolbar, mimicking clapping or snapping your fingers. The app also offers undo/redo functionality and the ability to quantize your patterns on different timing levels. If you want to start from scratch, there is a clear button that allows you to clear everything and begin anew.

RhythmBud is built using the open-source AudioKit framework, as well as other open-source frameworks like MusicTheorySwift and MIDIEventKit. These frameworks can be found on GitHub for further exploration.

Please note that RhythmBud is not an audio app and does not generate audio. It functions solely as a MIDI effect app, requiring both MIDI input and output routing. The MIDI transformation occurs only when you create a pattern and press the play button.
